SCIENCE WORKSHOP
A science workshop was organized by our mentor Dr.Anna Neena george on methodology of science teaching on 8th October .The resource person for the workshop was Sharath Chandra CEO of Butterfly kits .
He had planned many activities for us , we even got hands on experience on the activity kits which were designed by the company. Mr. Chandra asked us question about what are the different teaching strategies we use in class. The teacher-trainees suggested activities, demonstrations, lab work, reading, chalk board teaching, audio visuals etc.
He asked the participants to assign percentage values to each of these. He stressed up the fact that more emphasis should be given to the practical aspects of the subject. He gave us the learning pyramid which depicts that maximum learning takes place when you teach others in addition to practice by doing and group discussion.
I along with my science methodology students participated in the same with great excitement and fervor.
